'Arrow' Comic-Con 2014 Megapost!

If "Arrow" Season 3 were not anticipated before, the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con panel would have made it so. Actors Stephen Amell, John Barrowman, Willa Holland, Colton Haynes, David Ramsey and Paul Blackthorne were joined by executive producers Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim in teasing the upcoming season.

What spoilers were learned?

The Olicity date

While no one on the panel would give too many details, there were a few hints thrown out. "We'll deal with that this year, their feelings for each other, which I always thought were genuine," Berlanti says of the date and the relationship.

"They go for Italian," Holland adds, probably seriously.

One of the more disturbing things shown in the Season 3 trailer may be some of the outcome of that date -- a bloody Felicity is seen lying on a slab with Oliver looking upset. Don't worry though. She's probably not dead. "She got a boo-boo," the producers joke.

Hong Kong flashbacks

It turns out that Oliver in Hong Kong is one of the main things the producers always wanted to have in "Arrow." One of the reasons could be that it offers lots of room for flashbacks. "There are characters who have previously appeared on the show who will show up in the flashbacks," Kreisberg teases.

Yes, one of those characters is Tommy Merlyn.

Thea and her daddy Merlyn

Don't expect to see Thea Queen back in Starling City right away. With a story out there that she is backpacking in Europe, there is time to kill.

The show doesn't plan to keep all of the Thea-Malcolm time a secret though. For one thing, flashbacks will detail what happened right after she got into Merlyn's car in the Season 2 finale. As for the rest, the cast and producers are keeping quiet. "All I can say is I have been hitting the gym a little bit," Holland says, showing off some new muscles.

Daddy Merlyn might be proud.

Time for the final Ballroom 20 panel of the day for us - but ooh, isn't it a good one? We can't wait to find out what's going to be coming up for the residents of Starling City, so hopefully the cast and crew will have some juicy titbits for us during this Comic-Con panel. We'll be bringing you all the action when the panel kicks off at5.30pm PT / 8.30pm ET / 1.30am UK...

18:31

But that's a wrap from the Arrow panel! Thanks for joining us!

18:30

Greg takes the time to thank all the fans for their support of Arrow, saying they really appreciate it. He says they're excited by the audience's response to the show - and they've even made decisions based on fan input.

18:30

Marc says he never expected to have so many DC characters popping up in the show - they pinch themselves now!

18:29

Time for the last question of the panel already! This fan wants to know about Felicity's back story - Andrew says they know a lot about it and the clues have been there from the start. We're going to get flashbacks early on this season about Felicity and her time at MIT - AND THE TITLE OF THE EPISODE IS 'Oracle'. You know. Just putting that out there.

18:28

The next fan asks if Stephen can really shoot arrows that well. "Yeah, I'm really good," he replies. He says people always ask who would win a competition between him, Katniss and Hawkeye: "Of course I would win!"

18:27

Willa obviously chooses John because of the entertainment value. Meanwhile, Paul says the one person he wouldn't want to be on an island with is John!

18:26

Colton chooses to be on the island with Thea. John didn't realise they were choosing people from the cast - he wants either Liza Minelli or James McAvoy. He says he'd have a girl - "only to cook for us". He gets an 'ooh' from the crowd but reminds everyone he's Malcolm Merlyn so it's FINE.

18:25

The next fan - in a green hoodie, obviously - asks who they would choose to be stranded on the island with them! David picks Stephen ("Purely for survival!" Stephen laughs). It's all getting a bit homoerotic on this panel ("Not-so-straight-Arrow").

18:23

Oh no! He's faltered at the last hurdle! With a bit of nudging he gets through it all - and even throws in the "Previously on Arrow" for good measure. Nice work.

18:23

There is a kid asking the next question and he's adorable, telling Roy and Thea they're the "perfect couple" and John that he plays the best villain ever. But his request is that Stephen read out the intro from Arrow... which he does!

18:22

We're on to fan questions now - first up, who are superheroes that the panel would like to see get their own shows or appear on Arrow? Andrew says they've been "blessed" because DC Comics has been so supportive. Katana is coming, Robbie Amell will play Firestorm on The Flash... so they kind of have the people they want!

18:20

Have the producers figured out how to better their finale? "We have some ideas," Andrew says cagily...

18:20

Lot of love for Susanna Thompson in the room right now! The cast say they miss her - "I miss my mommy," Willa admits.

18:19

To wrap things up, David picks his favourite Paul scene - the one where he thinks he has an opportunity to be with his wife again. "She's like, 'No boo boo', and he's like, 'Oh wow'," he says. He praises Paul for showing it all on his face. Paul says he'd lean on David's shoulder if he could but he's too far away - so they all lean on each other in some kind of weird Mexican wave hug.

18:18

Colton's favourite Diggle moment? There's a scene in the trailer where Diggle is frustrated and asking what he's supposed to do. Now David is hugging Colton! It's such a huggy panel today.

18:17

Stephen's picking a Colton scene now - he picks the last scene between him and Willa in the finale. He describes it as a "wonderful emotional moment". Colton is hugging Stephen and Willa is rubbing his back!

18:16

Willa has to pick her favourite Stephen scene - quite a task when he's in pretty much every part of the show! She says the first thing that popped to mind was one of the first scenes they had together, when he talked about how the Kardashians get more airtime than him. "I did not think that's where you were going," Stephen says.

18:15

John says he liked the scene on the railway with Willa ("When I shot you?" "Yes.") He also praises her for the stuff she did when the city was about to collapse because of the earthquake machine - he likes her relationship with Roy. Willa's hugging John now! "That's my baby girl," he says.

18:14

Paul says he couldn't choose one scene, but he loves filming with John - during the first scene they were filming a dark, intense scene... then after 'cut' John came out and went 'Waaaaah!'

18:14

Now the actors have to give their favourite scene of the person next to them. Paul's favourite John scene? "I always fast forward when it gets to Barrowman."

18:13

Andrew says putting Thea and Malcolm together wasn't something they initially planned. He also had fun writing scenes for Diggle and Thea so he's also looking for unusual pairings to write for.

18:12

Are there any plans to pair unlikely couplings eg Roy and Felicity? "Lance needs a lover," Paul announces. "That's all I want to say."

18:12

Andrew says we'll all be "really excited" about Laurel's journey this season.

18:12

Andrew says we'll all be "really excited" about Laurel's journey this season.

18:12

Andrew says for him, the least interesting aspect of superhero stories is the mystery of who they are. He thinks the show gets more interesting (and easier to write!) when they reveal Oliver's identity to characters.

18:11

Diggle jokes that if things don't work out with the team he'll just become part of the Suicide Squad! Not really - he thinks Diggle's heart is with Oliver, and he's just as invested in the crusade. He says he doesn't think there's a chance of him deliberately leaving the team... but you never know!

18:10

Marc says we'll flashback to the moment Thea got into the limo with Malcolm, so we'll find out what happened and what they said to each other.

18:09

Willa isn't allowed to tell us what Thea is up to - but how long will it be before Thea and Roy share a scene again? "No comment!" Willa announces. The execs promise it will be worth the wait.

18:08

Paul jokes that he's losing track of what Quentin's daughters are up to! "They're good girls, he brought them up well," he jokes.

18:08

Andrew jokes that Stephen is very glad not to go back to the place they shot the island scenes. "No matter what time of year it is, it's cold and wet," Stephen explains.

18:07

Colin Donnell will appear in the second episode of the season as Tommy (hooray!) It will show us a previously unknown encounter between Oliver and Tommy.

18:06

Will we not be seeing many island flashbacks because of the Hong Kong twist? Andrew says they always had this plan and even in season one there are hints (such as Oliver saying he got a message from his father and Diggle questioning how he could when he was on the island).

18:05

Who does the best Oliver as Arrow voice impersonation? Emily, apparently. I'm sad we can't hear it.

18:05

John reveals that he is a big fan of DC and has the encyclopedia next to his bed! He gets cheers for that, of course.

18:03

John says Malcolm will want to see how much he can gain control - he's always been able to do it with finance, but he's never been able to control emotions before. He'll try to do that with Thea.

18:03

What's it like for Stephen being a mentor to Roy? "It's really nice having the second-nicest suit on the show now," he jokes. He says he likes the Oliver-Roy dynamic because it brings out the humour in Oliver.

18:02

"It's not like there hasn't been sexual tension between the two characters - just this year they go out on a date!" Stephen says. But he refuses to say any more...

18:02

Greg says he wasn't trying to fake anyone out with Oliver's confession - it will be dealt with this year. He says he's always believed the feelings between the duo are genuine.

18:01

FINALLY. It's time to talk Olicity! What's going on with this situation? Marc promises a big spoiler about their date - they go for Italian.

18:01

Is Starling City big enough for all these new people? Andrew says season three is normally when game-changing characters turn up (eg Faith in Buffy). He wants to make those all-important additions this year - they initially wanted Ted Kord (but there were other plans). So they got Ray Palmer instead!

17:59

So, who should Oliver be with? Stephen flat out refuses to answer ("No way!")

17:59

Andrew confirms that Felicity will show up in episode four of The Flash!

17:58

Is there anyone on The Flash that the actors want to work with? Stephen picks Jesse Martin. "Oh, yeah, and Robbie Amell." Awkward. The next family reunion will be difficult. "I want to do a sandwich scene with both of them," says John, of course.

17:57

Will Quentin work with the CSIs of Central City? Andrew confirms that episode eight of The Flash and Arrow will cross over. (We can't wait.)

17:56

Time to talk to Paul now - has he survived those chest pains? "It was a dodgy takeaway," he jokes. Anyway, he says that he's on the panel, so what does that look like?

17:55

But what's going on with Malcolm? John, um, hasn't read the scripts yet. Apparently the other cast members have been taunting him - he'll be in his hotel room tonight reading them and going, 'No way!'

17:54

The moderator keeps teasing us with Olicity! But we're not talking that yet - instead, it's time to find out the raunchiest thing John has done on set so far. "If you say anything, I'll kill you all," he warns them.

17:53

Fatherhood is coming to David! "#DaddyDiggle!" he says. David promises that there'll be a lot of dramatic tension - the stakes are higher with a child, so does he stay with the team or leave?

17:52

There's no more Vertigo and dancing on tabletops for Thea - she's going to be a different girl now! Exciting...

17:52

So what's going on with Thea? Well, she has been hitting the gym apparently, so that might give you a clue...

17:51

Willa reveals that in their first kiss scene they were told to do "more kissy kissy" - "more mouth to mouth". So Willa pinched his nose and breathed into his mouth. "She has amazing breath," Colton says.

17:50

Time to speak to Colton and Willa! (John pulls Willa towards him at mention of the "dark side"). Back on topic, Colton says he got on with Willa immediately - one of their first scenes was their kiss. Willa says those are her favourite scenes to shoot - hmm, wonder why?

17:50

Stephen says he's always trying to make each episode better than the last - he's grateful for all the dramatic opportunities he's given in the show.

17:48

Stephen says he remembers being at Comic-Con promising fans that the show wouldn't suck - that's what drives him!

17:48

The moderator suggests Stephen has been a hero for Arrow by being so active on social media and so on! He says at points in the first season the show was more important to him than it should have been - he waited his life for an opportunity like this and is thrilled with the way fans have reacted.

17:46

The execs have season three all mapped out. Andrew says that after ending season one on a dour note, they wanted a happy ending in season two to shock people! But he says season three is about "what price victory" - at the beginning, everyone's enjoying the peace they've found. As Joss Whedon says, when you give characters happiness, you have to yank it away!

17:45

Andrew says they were always leading up to John being a regular in season three - hooray!

17:44

JOHN BARROWMAN IS BACK. Was that just a wishlist thing? Andrew says he's a big Doctor Who fan (huge cheers from the audience, obviously) and he says he knew John would understand going away to come back better (because it's like Captain Jack!)

17:44

Andrew admits he was terrified at the start of season two, because the first season was such a success - what if it fizzled out? He says so many things they did were things they discussed during the pilot - Sarah not being dead, and Oliver waking up in Hong Kong.

17:43

Did we see Felicity bloody on a slab? "It's just a little boo boo," we're told. She's not here today... but only because she's filming (phew!)

17:42

Here they come - exec producers Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim, Paul Blackthorne, John Barrowman (who gets a huge scream), Willa Holland, Stephen Amell, Colton Haynes, David Ramsay and Greg Berlanti.

17:41

Well, that was blooming incredible. I don't even know where to start - action, explosions, Slade, Olicity... SO MUCH. I can't wait to find out more from the panellists.

17:38

Oooh, we're kicking things off with a sneak peek at season three! We'll be back in a moment...

17:36

Apparently the cast and crew are ready to share some season three secrets. Bring it on then!

17:35

Here we go! Time for some Arrow action - there are already some huge cheers from the audience.

17:32

Ballroom 20 is playing the Ting Tings. This panel can't start soon enough.
