Comedian Russell Brand was investigated by police after allegedly assaulting a masseuse, The Daily Beast is reporting.
According to The Telegraph , Russell’s girlfriend Jemima Khan hired Szilvia Berki to come from London to her (Khan’s) estate in Oxfordshire to provide Brand with a massage, as a birthday gift. What happened next is unclear, but according to reports, there was a disagreement as to what type of service, exactly, that Brand would be receiving. Szilvia alleges that Brand pushed her and that the couple’s dog, a German Shepherd, lunged at her.
Berki is considered a high-end masseuse, and the fee for her visit to Mr. Brand was 500 pounds (about $840), according to The Telegraph. Rob Zurko, of the Examiner, speculates that the high price tag of the massage might have led Brand to expect… something more, leading to the incident.
A spokesperson for the Thames Valley Police issued the following statement, published in The Daily Beast:
“We received a report on 16 June from the Metropolitan Police that a woman had reported that she had been assaulted on June 7 at a private address near Woodstock.”
That “private address near Woodstock” is actually Kiddington Hall, the 17th-century mansion valued at 15 million pounds ($25 million) where Jemima Khan lives. Ms. Khan is one of the richest women in England, according to reports. The statement goes on to say:
“An investigation was carried out by Thames Valley Police and in the absence of necessary evidence we were unable to proceed further with the investigation and informed the complainant of this situation.”
In other words, according to The Examiner’s Zurko, police took Russell’s word for it and concluded that nothing happened. The alleged victim in this situation, Berki herself, posted Zurko’s take on the situation on her Twitter feed:
“Something went on in that mansion that would best be left swept under the carpet, but it doesn’t look like the masseus let this go.”Examiner

As of this post, it is not known for certain if @berkyszi is actually the Twitter handle of the same Szilia Berki who was involved in this incident. What is known is that Berki did not accept the police’s conclusion, and has since filed a complaint about the way the investigation was handled, according to reports.
Russell Brand, whose girlfriend lives in a $25 million mansion and buys thousand-dollar massages as birthday gifts, last month called for the end of the capitalist economy and a Socialist revolution, according to Reuters . He has also been involved in a public war of words with Sean Hannity over the two men’s differing views of the Israel/Gaza conflict (see this Inquisitr article).
