With summer just around the corner, many dieters are probably scrambling to find the easiest way to lose weight that will give them the fastest results. The problem with fad diets is that even though they may give quick results, maintaining the weight loss is difficult especially if dieters return to their former habits. Counting calories to lose weight doesn’t make it any easier especially when the guidelines are so confusing.
Self reported that the formula of calories in and calories out to lose weight is a little more complicated than simply eating fewer calories than dieters consume. Different experts use different formulas for determining the correct number of calories. There is a way to at least make an educated guess to determine how many calories to consume for weight loss.

Anna Z. Feldman, M.D., an endocrinologist at Joslin Diabetes Center said that the best thing that dieters can do is start by first determining their base metabolic rate.
“The basal metabolic rate is the minimum number of calories your body burns at rest. This number of calories is required for involuntary functions such as breathing, regulating body temperature, digesting food, and [keeping] your circulation going. Think of this as the bare minimum number of calories you would need to keep your body alive if you were to stay in bed all day.”
As previously reported in Inquisitr, recent studies have pointed to counting calories and dealing with psychological barriers as keys to success in weight loss. Drinking plenty of water and getting adequate sleep can also help dieters lose the weight as well as well as keep the weight off because sleep helps in reducing cortisol, which affects the hunger levels triggered in the brain.

Health Aim reported that there are many fad diets available that can help dieters lose weight quickly. Even if these diets work, it’s best to avoid them because quick fixes won’t lead to long term weight loss success. Fad diets often offer quick fix solutions and revolve around a particular food item or some type of concoction created to speed weight loss. Many of these plans are short lived and the duration is usually around two to three weeks.
One issue seldom discussed with fad diets for weight loss is the problems they cause. Although they can lead to short term weight loss, they can also lead to long term health problems. These include mood swings, dehydration and pain and weakness.
For effective weight loss, making changes that become part of the dieter’s lifestyle not only leads to success, it may also lead to keeping the weight off for good. Things that dieters can do to effectively lose weight include eating plenty of vegetables and beans, as well as fruits provided they don’t include sugar. Filling up on quality proteins can also help to curb hunger.
