From Olympic gold medalist to drunk driver. Michael Phelps is facing a hard time after he was pulled over for driving under the influence earlier this morning (September 30).
The 29-year-old athlete was driving in Maryland when he was stopped by police around 2 a.m. in his white Range Rover. According to reports, Phelps failed his sobriety test and his blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit.
TMZ reports that Michael was taken into a local police station and booked for DUI. He was released later in the morning.
This isn’t Phelps’ first run-in with the law. In 2004, the swimmer was arrested for driving under the influence when he was 19-year-old and ended up striking a plea deal for 18 months probation.
