Is Jamie Dornan quitting Fifty Shades Of Grey?
There have been several rumors that the British actor doesn’t want to be a part of the next two Fifty Shades films. According to Fashion & Style, Dornan’s wife, Amelia Warner, supposedly has a problem with the message of the movies, and doesn’t want her husband participating in any future Fifty Shades projects. Sources say that she has expressed her disapproval, and that her husband is willing to comply.
Now, a rep for the actor tells Gossip Cop that the rumors are purely “conjecture” at this point because the studio hasn’t officially announced formal plans to franchise the novels. According to Just Jared, the studio has confirmed plans to go ahead with two more films, but casting has not yet been confirmed.
There has not been any confirmation or denial, however, about Warner’s concerns. And it is very possible that Dornan will not reprise his role if he is offered a deal, but there hasn’t been anything on the table thus far.
Rumors that Jamie Dornan is quitting have been circulating for months — well before the film was even released. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there have also been reports that screenwriter Kelly Marcel and director Sam Taylor-Johnson want out of the franchise as well, but for different reasons that don’t have much to do with the nature of the story itself.
“The exit of Marcel and Taylor-Johnson is allegedly due to ‘creative differences’ and a rocky relationship with Fifty Shades of Grey author E. L. James, who Mashable reported has been ‘demanding, difficult and control-freaky’ throughout the creative process of the first film.”
The success of Fifty Shares Of Grey suggests that additional films would also do extremely well. According to Fortune, the film has already topped seven of the best picture nominees put together, but that does not necessarily mean that Dornan will want to be a part of additional movies.
“Overall, in less than two weeks, Fifty Shades of Grey has surpassed the $400 million mark in global ticket sales. Remove American Sniper—the one Best Picture nominee with truly blockbuster sales, to the tune of $320 million and counting—and the box office take of Fifty Shades already handily trumps that of the remaining seven Best Picture nominees combined.”
Do you think Jamie Dornan will quit the franchise? Do you think that he made a good Christian Grey?
