Neil Cavuto Fondly Remembers Terry Keenan

Terry Keenan was fondly and lovingly remembered by former co-anchor Neil Cavuto today.

According to Mediaite , Fox News’ Neil Cavuto took a moment today on-air to address the passing of Terry Keenan, a former Fox anchor who used to host the program Cashin’ In. Keenan died this week of a massive cerebral hemorrhage.

Cavuto recalled Keenan as the “lynchpin” of the Cost of Freedom Fox News Saturday block, and showed some highlights from her time hosting Cashin’ In. He said that in all the years she worked at Fox News, he “never met a single crew or staff member who didn’t like her.”

Cauvto said she had an “uncommon earthiness” in how she reported the news, and brought up a piece she wrote just last week for The New York Post about gas prices. He concluded, “Leave it to Terry’s passing to rain on economic spending itself.”

Keenan was most recently a Sunday business columnist for the New York Post. Her last column was posted online on Oct. 19.

According to the Hollywood Reporter , Keenan graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1983 with a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Keenan credited much of her success to her mother’s emphasis on education, her sister Linda Keenan told THR. She attended Holy Names Academy in Albany, NY and received a math scholarship to Johns Hopkins.

Keenan joined CNN Business News in 1986 as a producer for Moneyline before becoming an on-air correspondent, her Fox News bio explains.Keenan left CNN from 1995-98, working as an anchor at CNBC. She began her career as a producer on PBS’ Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser, who served as a mentor to Keenan. Moneyline host Lou Dobbs also served as a mentor. During her time at CNN sKeenan reported on the 1987 stock market crash (aka “Black Monday”) and was the first journalist to report live from the New York Stock Exchange.

Keenan joined Fox News in 2002, according to TV Newser , from CNN, where she served as an anchor and senior correspondent for CNN Business News analyzing Wall Street and the financial markets,according to her Fox News bio. At CNN, Keenan served as a correspondent for Moneyline and anchored its weekend edition. She also anchored Street Sweep on the now-defunct CNNfn.

Keenan formerly worked as an anchor and business correspondent for Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network, hosting the Saturday investing program Cashin’ In. She left Fox News in 2009, according to reports.

Keenan will be remembered as a pioneer in the world of financial reporting, being one of the first women to break into the world of the male-dominated financial world. She was smart, graceful, never backed down, and more than carried her own. She was an original.

Keenan is survived by her husband, Ron Kass; their son, Benjamin Kass; her two sisters, Joellen Gardner and Linda Keenan, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in Manhattan. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Manhattan’s Loyola School.
