Chris Brown, covering Billboard magazine's latest issue, admits that "maybe I was out of control." This was prior to Suge Knight getting shot at his party.
How prescient the cover would become, and Brown spoke to the magazine about the shooting, which some believe was an assassination attempt on Chris:
"I realize that what I do for a living opens my life to public scrutiny and that I have a responsibility to everyone because of that exposure," Brown tells Billboard.
"I can say that I am only human and I have made mistakes. I can say that I try to live my life in the most true, honest way that I can. I am not perfect, no one is."
"No one is harder on me than me. No one can please everyone.
"No one can live in the past and expect to grow. I have been moving forward and hope that I am not defined by just a few moments but all of the moments that will make up my life."
The sad part for Chris is that while that sure sounds nice, more and more of the moments that make up his life have been controversial, sometimes even violent.
An investigation has been opened into the most recent incident tied to Chris, with officials believing Brown's gang affiliation may have played a role.
"It's disappointing that we as a society can't have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes," tweeted Brown at the time of the shooting.
As far as who shot Suge Knight, no one knows. Or cares?
The 49-year-old Death Row Records mogul told TMZ after being released from the hospital that "even if I [did know], I don't think that's really important."
"Who pulled the trigger and who I seen pulled the trigger ... I just think that I'm doing extremely well, I'm happy to be doing well and whatever happens, happens."
"I went to the club, I enjoyed the club, I was shot inside the club and one thing my father always told me [is] no matter what it is, you never give up."
"You never quit if you start something. No matter what goes on, you leave the same way as a man. I was shot and I think it was important that I wanted to walk and make sure I got to the right place."
Suge Knight and Chris Brown. Nothing if not inspiring.
