Katy Perry promises 'lions and sharks' for Super Bowl

"I don't think I'm so much of an expert on the game of football, but I can assure everyone in here, nothing in my performance will be deflated," she said at a press conference on Thursday, deflecting any controversy with ease.

Perry even got a few football-friendly digs in. "I'm just here so I don't get fined," she joke

Perry also said the majority of her halftime show will be sung live, although some pre-recorded tracking will be used to accommodate "a lot of graphic effects."

Mostly, the pop star said she's confident – and beyond ready. "I've been designing this show for months," she said. "It's a larger than life show. I've collaborated on everything. There is not a diamond on a shoe that has not gone past my eyes. I'm so prepared for this show that I even had time for Netflix the other night."

Perry's entire performance is a never-before-seen experience, according to Hamish Hamilton, television director for the show.

"Katy does reinvent herself. The music track is completely different, the staging elements are different," says Hamilton. "This is a brand-new show, brand-new soundtrack and a brand-new collaboration."
