‘The Americans’ Spoilers: Season 3 Pits Elizabeth Against Philip Over Paige

Season 3 of The Americans premieres Wednesday night on FX and fans cannot wait to dig into these new episodes. The last that fans saw, Philip and Elizabeth Jennings were told they had to work on bringing Paige into their line of work. Will they find a way around this? As TVLine shares, Season 3 picks up with Philip and Elizabeth at odds over the Paige issue. The Americans spoilers indicate that he is fully against the idea while Elizabeth believes it’s the right move. Elizabeth will be shown spending time with Paige at church as a way to get closer to her.

Keri Russell, who plays Elizabeth, shares that her character believes that if someone is going to bring Paige into their work it’s got to be her and she wants it to be important and about socialism. Russell adds that what her character does is out of love for her daughter and wanting her to do something substantial.

The weight of the Paige issue will weigh heavily on Philip and Elizabeth’s marriage this season, so it seems this transition will go on for some time. Russell notes that when Philip continues to reject the plan to tell Paige who they really are, Elizabeth feels as if it’s a rejection of who she really is as well.

From the sounds of what Russell shared with TV Guide, this issue will continue through the entire season. It seems that the difference of opinion regarding whether to bring Paige into the family business will not be resolved any time soon. As Elizabeth focuses on church as a way to get closer to Paige, Americans spoilers indicate that Philip will try to buy his favor with his daughter.

How does Paige react to it all? She is suspicious of her parents and her bond with her church grows even deeper. It is teased that she may put together some plans of her own, but fans will have to tune in to see just what that means.

Gabriel, played by Frank Langella, is back as Elizabeth and Philip’s handler. He apparently plays both Paige’s mother and father when it comes to her recruitment, and he has some news for Elizabeth that may leave her a bit shaken. At this point it doesn’t sound as if Claudia will be making any more appearances any time soon.

What about Nina Sergeevna? The Americans spoilers indicate that she’s locked up in a Soviet prison, but she soon will be receiving a proposition of some sort. When it comes to Stan, he’ll be harboring a lot of guilt about Nina and his marriage. He is desperate to get Sandra back, going to some interesting lengths to try to make it happen. Fans will be seeing a significant friendship build between Stan and Philip, a move that should be quite interesting.

Where is it all headed? From the sounds of things Season 3 will get off to quite the start with the premiere episode titled “EST Men.” Elizabeth loses key intelligence, prompting Philip to pull in Annalise for help. Tune in to new episodes of The Americans beginning Wednesday, January 28 on FX to see just what happens next with Philip and Elizabeth Jennings as they fight for both their family and their mission in this new season.
