THE VERDICT
Black Sails wrapped up its season in grand, bloody style as Flint's attempt to bring about peace failed miserably, causing him to be saved, and give into, Vane's methods of violent retribution.
Flint and Miranda had the final word in Charleston as buildings and citizens got blown to bits, Peter saw his world/legacy crumble to dust, and piracy's fearsome, menacing legacy remained intact. Plus, Anne and Jack reconciled, though not romantically ("You and I will be partners till they put us in the fucking ground"), Max rose to the top of the heap, and Silver lost an entire leg during a scheme that worked, but was costly.
Also, Flint is now...Flint. Forever. Especially with Miranda gone. After having been ready to ditch the persona, which he'd intended to be temporary, and retire to his old life as McGraw. An awesome end to his tragic journey.
