Game of Thrones, season 5 premiere: talking points

Here's what we want to discuss after the first episode of Game of Thrones, season 5. Warning: spoilers



1. Will Cersei's remaining two children die?

In the first ever flas Game of Thrones, we see a young Cersei be given her prophesy by a witch. She was told that "gold will be their crowns and gold will be their shrouds", which implies that she will live to see her three children die.



Important Note: The part about foreseeing Cersei's death and the valonqar has been completely cut on the show. And apparently the actress who plays Young Cersei is amazing and its a really creepy scene as Maggy apparently licks Young Cersei's blood of her finger.



2. Who are the Harpies?

Golden-masked and murderous, the Harpies are a major threat to Daenerys. They kill an Unsullied in the premiere. They could be Dany's downfall. How involved are they with Meereen's red light district, and are they tied up with new character Yezzan (Enzo Cilenti), an Essos slave owner who spells trouble for the Mother of Dragons?



3. One small man could be the saviour of Westeros

"Westeros needs to be saved from itself," Tyrion is told by Varys, who's helped him escape. Varys tells Tyrion to stop being a drunk and focus on finding Dany. He is established as a Dany stan and supporter int eh very first episode.



Important Note: Aegon and that entire plot and basically all these minor POV's introduced in AFFC/ADWD who want to kill Dany are cut.



5. What's going on between Jon Snow and Melisandre?

There is sexual tension between Jon snow and Melisandre as she asks him,"Are you a virgin?" she asks him. "No," he replies, to which she says, "Good."Will they sleep together this season?



8. It's always awkward when your ex gets all religious



Lancel comes up to Cersei and wants forgiveness about having sex with her and killing Robert Baratheon. All Cersei says to him in reply is an icy cold "I don't know what you're talking about". And then straight up laughs in face at him being a religious zealot.



Other tidbits from the premiere:



-Margaery walks in on Loras having sex and tells him he needs to stop because she wants Cersei away from King's Landing.



-Cersei laughs at Loras when he tries to recite a eulogy of Tywin for her



-You get to see all of Daario except his penis.



-There is a lot of male nudity in general in the premeire.



-Show Littlefinger wants to take Sansa to Winterfell (where Ramsay and Roose Bolton are) to keep her safe from Cersei.
