Kelly Rowland is 70 pounds lighter, and she is back on stage for another Destiny’s Child reunion just months after giving birth to her first child. Rowland shared her weight loss secrets in an interview shared by Billboard. The singer stopped by Extra to talk about her pregnancy late last week.
Rowland gave birth to her first child with husband Tim Witherspoon just months ago. Titan Jewell was born in November. Since his birth, Rowland worked at losing the baby weight, and she managed to lose 70 pounds in only four months time.
That is an accomplishment. Many mothers struggle with losing weight after giving birth. Rowland did have some help, though. She shared her weight loss methods on Extra.
“[Trainer] Jeanette Jenkins is the secret, SoulCycle is the secret, [SoulCycle instructor] Angela Davis … when I go in there and it’s the wee hours of the morning she is a great secret, so motivational. Jeanette comes in with so much energy and this huge smile on her face and you can’t help but to get excited about working out.”
Rowland also shared about her post-baby diet.
“The 80/20 rule is all the way real. Eighty percent of the time you eat those foods giving you nourishment. You’re eating clean. And twenty percent of the time, have guacamole, a ton of it like I do, and a margarita and maybe queso too!”
Rowland did speak up about her exercise routine during her pregnancy, according to a previous Inquisitr report. The singer appeared in an issue of Elle Magazine that she shot just weeks before she gave birth. She posed nude for the issue, and she spoke briefly about her exercise routine. During her pregnancy, she continued to walk two miles every day.
“Exercise really helps that. To be honest, I did modify my exercise routine a bit by just listening to my body.”
Her weight loss secrets are not all Kelly Rowland has shared in recent interviews. She has also spoken up about the new addition to her life. She revealed that she gave her husband the responsibility of naming their baby, according to E! Online.
“I gave him the complete responsibility because I did everything else! I pushed the baby, I carried the baby, I’m dressing the baby, I’m changing the baby. Everything else! So yeah, I’m like, ‘You name the baby!’ I would have told him to change it until we got it right.”
Rowland and Witherspoon were friends long before they took their relationship to the next level. The couple married in 2014.
Rowland was asked about a potential Destiny’s Child reunion during an interview, and the singer played coy, according to Billboard.
“The last reunion happened the other day when we all sat down and were just talking and enjoying each other’s company. It was awesome. Not every time you see Destiny’s Child together may be in front of the camera. We still have our bond amongst each other. That’s the most beautiful gift Destiny’s Child has given me.”
However, an on-stage Destiny’s Child reunion did happen on Saturday night. Beyoncé, Michelle Williams, and Kelly Rowland appeared on stage during the 30th Annual Stellar Awards in Las Vegas, according to Us Magazine.

The three women performed Michelle Williams’ gospel song, “Say Yes.” During the event, Williams took home the award for Video of the Year for the song.
People that did not see the reunion in person will have the chance to see the performance when the Stellar Awards air on TV One on April 5. For now, there is a fan shot video shared online. The group last reunited on stage during Beyoncé’s Super Bowl performance in 2013.
According to Rolling Stone, Williams did speak about how the Destiny’s Child reunion for her song happened.
“They received an advance copy of the album and called, saying, ‘We love “When Jesus Says Yes” … there has to be a Destiny’s Child mix of the song. ‘Kelly did it and Beyoncé got right in the studio and did her part. I kept it a secret because I didn’t want anyone to know until it was time.’ “
Williams also spoke about the bond the three women share. She said Beyoncé and Kelly have shown her that they are her “sisters time and time again.”
