Tony Robbins promises to finally solve your weight loss problem. In a recent interview with Psychology Today, Tony discusses his new weight loss program that he promises will finally solve that weight loss dilemma with a successful empowering self-help strategy. In the new Netflix documentary, Tony Robbins: I Am Not Your Guru, Robbins has taken his success philosophy and has broken it down to easy steps to finally help people finally and permanently lose that weight.

In approaching successful weight loss, Robbins contends that in order to lose that weight, you must address both the psychological and the physiological to be successful.

“If you’re going to solve a weight-loss problem – or smoking problem for that matter – you must address both the psychological and physiological.”

Next, Robbins says that you must change your focus. This is the psychological aspect. Instead of what you want to lose, those who want to lose weight need to reclaim their identity.

“Regarding the psychological, your goal must not be ‘I need to lose X pounds’ but ‘I’m going to regain my identity,’ whether as an athlete, a conservative, a sexual being, a together person, whatever.”

Robbins further explains why the number on the scale is not enough motivation to inspire weight loss. Instead, becoming your authentic self is the motivator to help you lose weight.

“The goal of becoming more consistent with your core authentic self is a much stronger motivator than ‘I need to lose 30 pounds.’ So ask yourself, ‘Who is the person you’d more authentically be if you were thinner?'”

The physiological component to weight loss is something that Robbins believes should be done slowly and methodically with weight loss only at about a pound a week. His belief that “Emotion is changed by motion.” is about being balanced in your approach to weight loss.

“Do something physical every day, even if it’s just five or ten minutes of fast walking a couple times a day. That tends to replace fear and anger with determination and courage. It can change your identity, your momentum.”

Robbins explains how it is impossible to keep up with the momentum of extreme dieting. Instead, Robbins subscribes to the philosophy of moderation and consistency. This is a long-term solution for a lifestyle, instead of a temporary solution to a permanent problem.

“Weight control does have to be for a lifetime or you’ll be yo-yoing. You’re far more likely to lose the weight and keep it off if you lose slowly, perhaps ½ to 1 pound a week, exercise moderately, and find that replacement for comfort, connection, and control. That’s a doable long-term plan.”

Dieters who have tried and have repeatedly failed to successfully lose weight have found themselves working very hard, only to be slowed down by an injury or the inability to keep up with a strenuous program. Robbins knows this and has considered this in his weight loss program.

“Regarding the physiological, when you go on an extreme diet, your body’s self-preservation mechanism responds by burning calories as slowly as possible. Of course, that makes it much more difficult to lose weight. And if you do extreme exercise to lose weight, you’ll usually soon stop because you get injured or because it’s simply too rigorous to do for a lifetime.”

Now, Robbins wants to deal with food issues. He believes this is the time to replace food, that source of comfort, with something else that also gives you an equal source of comfort. This could be your participation in an organization or it can be something that can be done individually, like a creative project.

“For many people, food is a source of comfort, connection, and control. How control? ‘You can’t make me lose weight. See?’ You must find a more empowering source of comfort, connection, and control than food. perhaps a creative outlet, helping others, becoming active in an organisation, whatever.”

Armed with these behavioral and physical success strategies by this leading self-help and motivational speaker, dieters should find themselves not only losing weight, but in addition, replacing self-defeating behaviors with Robbins’ self-empowering behaviors.

Tony Robbins is one of the most popular motivational speaker and best-selling authors in the world. He has spoken to over 50 million people helping them change their mind and succeeding in reaching their goals.

Do you think that these small changes in how you approach weight loss could help you finally lose weight? Do you think that Robbins understand why weight loss is so difficult?
