Shia LaBeouf Arrested After Wild Weekend

Shia LaBeouf doesn't look to good after jail release.

The weird, bizarre antics of Shia LaBeouf continued through this weekend. The former child star, perhaps best known for his role as Louis Anthony Stevens on the Disney Channel‘s Even Stevens, found himself on the wrong side of the law again.

Variety reported that Shia was arrested after a disturbance at a Broadway show on Thursday Night. LaBeouf was completely off-the-wall drunk during a performance of Cabaret and was escorted out by police. The New York Daily News reported that before Shia LaBeouf was arrested he had been shouting obscenities at the Cabaret cast led by TheGood Wife actor Alan Cumming.

Shia was also smoking cigarettes inside the theater and generally acting erratic. Cops entered the theater and promptly arrested the bad boy actor. Shia was released on Friday morning.

Unfortunately, Shia’s transgressions are nothing new. As Shia grew up he left his tame Disney days behind. LaBeouf choose to star in more adult fare such as Michael Bay’s Transformers trilogy and Rear Window remake Disturbia. His acting was good and for many, he was the lone bright spot in Bay’s heavy handed, effects laden blockbusters.

Yet the indiscretions started piling up. A high speed car wreck in 2008 badly damaged Shia’s wrist. By that time LaBeouf had also developed a serious drinking problem. He has also been issued multiple citations for public drunkenness.

And in a very weird moment on the Berlin International Film Festival red carpet, Shia donned a brown paper bag over his head with the words “I am not famous anymore” written in black sharpie marker on it. He was supposed to be promoting Lars Von Trier’s film Nymphomaniac, in which he co-stars, but the stunt seemed to be all about Shia.

Then during Nymphomaniac’s press conference, Shia LaBeouf recited French footballer Eric Cantona’s famous quote, “When the seagulls follow the trawler, it’s because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea. Thank you very much.” He then left the stage, leaving his fellow actors behind and the media bewildered.

All this was done in the name of “Performance Art,” at least according to LaBeouf.

So besides the Cabaret incident, Shia also nearly came to blows with an unidentified man outside of a New York City strip club joint. Luckily a security guard for the club got in between Shia and the unidentified man. The situation deescalated from there and Shia trotted off, but not before a TMZ captured the entire scene on film.

Watch the almost fight below:

To top it all off, Shia terrorized a homeless man in the city and attempted to steal his McDonald’s lunch.

As if all this drama wasn’t enough, accusations of plagiarism dogged Shia LaBeouf in December of last year. Wired reported that Shia made a short film called HowardCantour.com , but lifted the storyline from a comic by Dan Clowes.

But the past two weeks have made Shia’s past transgressions seem tame by comparison.

God only knows what Shia LaBeouf will do for an encore. We can only hope that he cleans up his act, gets sober, and refocuses on his promising acting career.
