Giada de Laurentiis has been linked to John Mayer in the past, so now that she's filed for divorce, her relationship with the singer is a hotter topic than ever.
With Giada de Laurentiis and Todd Thompson announcing their split this week after 11 years of marriage, several sites have suggested Mayer is to blame.
Is he, though? Is there any proof that the two ever even hooked up?
Giada's relationship with Mayer, first rumored by the N.Y. Daily News years ago, may or may not have been the straw that broke the back of her marriage.
The rumor spiraled out of control and was picked up by other celebrity gossip publications, which caused Giada to address it in an interview with Redbook.
“The John Mayer incident was completely unexpected. I was shocked. And not so much for me, but for my husband and family,” she said, sort of cryptically.
Todd was often “embarrassed” by the rumor, the Food Network personality said, and was worried about what his family back in Michigan would think.
Giada said at the time that she had only met John briefly about three years earlier, and that he seems like a great guy and a great singer, but that's it.
“I haven’t had any contact with John Mayer in three years. You know how you briefly get introduced to somebody? Maybe we chatted for five minutes."
"I wouldn’t consider that intimate,” the 44-year-old mother of one said.
Doesn't sound like there's much to this one, honestly. He did get around like a record for years, for sure, but that doesn't mean John tried to bang Giada.
Don't pencil her name on this list of celebrity cheaters yet ...
