Adam Driver grew up watching the George Lucas’ series, so when he got the call telling him he got a role in Star Wars Episode VII he thought it was “surreal.”
That is how most of the young actors chosen to play several roles in the upcoming J.J. Abrams installment feel and now that the official cast has been announced they can rest easy.
Driver (Girls) is joined by newbies John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow in Star Wars Episode VII.
In an interview with Empire magazine the 30-year-old said:
“You grew up watching something and then suddenly you’re in the midst of all those characters with them talking to each other! You want to make R2-D2 noises and lightsaber whooshes, but nobody actually did.”
Also returning to portray the roles that propelled them to stardom for Star Wars Episode VII are original cast members Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia-Solo), Anthony Daniels (C3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Kenny Baker (R2 D2).
Although no official word as to what roles the new cast members will be playing in Star Wars Episode VII , a rumor via Jedi News is that Adam Driver will play the son of favorite couple Han Solo and Princess Leia (Solo), who is a Darth Vader sort of character that is seduced by the Dark Side.
Some insiders believe Driver will play a villain type of role and his story will be central to the film as Han and Leia try to bring him back. It is believed that Han will be the focus in this installment, which may be his last.
On May 16, J.J. Abrams kindly shared this photo on Twitter, indicating that production for Disney’s highly anticipated Star Wars Episode VII had officially begun:

Not much is known about the script — written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan (the scribe for Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi) — who put out a joint video for fans on Star Wars day, May 5.
As far as a title goes, Ain’t It Cool reported last week that they have it on good authority the Star Wars Episode VII will be called The Ancient Fear, which allegedly refers to Von Sydow’s villainous character. But again, it has not been announced by Abrams yet.
