Last night on The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 7 Episode 22, the Bravo flagship's season finale, Kenya hosted a screening event for her pilot.
Was it as terribly received as any viewer would reasonably expect at this point?
Meanwhile, NeNe scrambled to prepare for her Broadway debut, and Apollo checked into prison ... with some parting shots at his estranged wife Phaedra.
While closing up (coffee) shop and prepping a move to their new location, Peter Thomas and Cynthia Bailey field a call from none other than Apollo Nida.
Yup, Phaedra Parks’ husband calls from prison to catch up ... and complain.
Previously, as you know if you watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta online, we saw Apollo leave for the Big House on terms that were less than positive.
On the phone, he rants about Phaedra’s wish to divorce him and complains that his spouse hasn’t allowed the duo's two sons to visit him in Kentucky.
Phaedra's side of the story is that she feels she's screwed either way.
“Whether I take the children to see their father in prison, or if I don’t ... someone’s going to be unhappy,” she laments, citing the "unsafe" conditions.
“Ayden might resent the fact that he has to go to a prison to visit his father, or he could resent the fact that I don’t allow him to ... it’s a no-win situation.”
Apollo asks his friends to reach out to Phaedra. Cynthia is hesitant.
“Although I feel bad for him ... the last time Apollo’s name came up, I ended up being in a big Chocolate mess,” Bailey says in her Bravo confessional.
That would be Phaedra Parks and Chocolate, her alleged mystery lover. But there's no mystery about how Parks is holding up these days, post-Nida.
“I’m moving on with my life, and my sons are moving on with their lives,” Parks proclaims, proudly and defiantly, to the cameras. “We are survivors!”
So are Todd Tucker and Kandi Burruss, or at least they're trying.
Of course, there's always Kandi's Mama Joyce ready to throw ice water on whatever flame they've rekindled. Is she up to her old ways here again?
Hosting the couple for dinner, she sort of tries to mend fences.
"Anything that I've said against your mother, it was something that someone told me," Mama Joyce tells Todd. "It was nothing that I have never made up."
"My biggest problem was repeating… what someone told me.”
What she repeated was that Todd's mom was an actual whore, so it's a tad worse than she's making it sound, and Todd clearly isn't buying the mea culpa.
"I definitely feel that this apology is not genuine," Tucker told the cameras. “Repeating what people told [her] in the streets? We have a lot of work to do."
Better than nothing, we suppose?
Meanwhile, despite every one of the cast members no-showing (and only Phaedra texting her a shout-out), NeNe nailed it in the Great White Way.
The screening of Kenya’s Life Twirls On at a private mansion packed the house, however, and believe it or not, people actually had a good time too.
“Girls who ... would never be in the same room together are laughing and having fun,” Kenya Moore reflects in the end. “It’s just a testament to forgiveness.”
We have come a long way since Porsha Williams beat her ass down ... stay tuned for next week's reunion and pray we don't see any repeat performances!
