We're feeling this dramatic red carpet look for her. “Being Mary Jane” star Gabrielle Union showed up at the 7th Annual amfAR Inspiration Gala held at the Skylight inside Moynihan Station in this Prada number that has folks speculating that she expecting. She snapped it up alongside her Miami Heat husband Dwyane Wade.

It has been confirmed the Tony Award winning actress will be starring in and producing a new film about the life of the first African-American who ran for president: Shirley Chisholm. Not only that, Shirley Chisholm was the first woman ever to run for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. "How To Get Away With Murder" star Viola Davis was originally attached to the film but no longer is.

Now that “Empire” has wrapped up its second season, breakout star Jussie Smollett is working on another major project.
Jussie has joined the cast for the upcoming film Marshall that depicts the life of the first African American Supreme Court Judge Thurgood Marshall as he battles through one of his career-defining cases. Jussie will star as award-winning poet Langston Hughes and he totally nails it as the late poet in this first look (above).
“People vs. OJ Simpson” starlet Keesha Sharp is also starring in the film. She’ll play Thurgood’s first wife Vivian "Buster" Marshall. She posted a sneak peek on Instagram captioning, "'Buster and Langston' Such a pleasure working with @jussiesmollett amazing talent #thurgoodmarshall #amazingmovie #blessed"
Also joining the cast, Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman (Yassss!) will star as Thurgood and "People vs. OJ Simpson" star Sterling K. Brown will play Joseph Spell, the defendant at the center of the above case.
Marshall is expected to hit theaters later this year.

Green Tea Health Benefits: Improving Cognitive Abilities in People with Mental Disabilities.
Everyone is talking about green tea health benefits, but a new case study according to The Medical Express, is showcasing a chemical that has been found inside of the leaves that had an ability that we didn’t know about, until just recently. Droves of scientists and doctors are claiming that this natural chemical has the ability to improve the cognitive ability for people with Down’s syndrome and other forms of mental disabilities. Imagine that a simple drink such as tea, something that many of us already drink on a daily basis can possibly aid our loved ones in their battle with mental illness.
During the clinical trial that lasted for a year, members were given tea on a regular basis, those that drank it religiously demonstrated an increase and improvement on memory and behavioral tests. The study was published in The Lancet Neurology. How’s that for green tea health benefits?
After the trial ended and the subjects quit their religious intake of green tea, the effect still lingered for nearly half-a-year. With effects that are as strong as this, just from ingesting a few cups of green tea a day, it should be easy to execute.
When it was accessible to take brain scans of the subjects, the scans drew a picture for the researchers on how a compound known as epigallocatechin gallate, changed the way the neurons in the brain interlocked.
Down’s syndrome also known as trisomy 21, is caused by the presence of an extra, or third, copy of chromosome number 21. It is still a rare condition with a ratio of 1:1000.
Ready for a fast fact? An average human being contains23 pairs of chromosomes, which contain up to 25,000 protein-coding genes. All of these little mini things just hanging out inside of your body.
In the trials, 84 young adults with Down’s syndrome were split into two groups.
One was given a decaffeinated tea supplement containing 45 percent epigallocatechin gallate, paired with weekly cognitive tests to gauge if the green tea health benefits would work.
The final group had the same training but ingested a placebo in lieu of the supplement.
David Nutt, head of the Centre for Neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College London, had a little to add to this study, saying:
“It’s exciting that an understanding of the genetic neurobiology of Down’s syndrome is leading to the possibility of disorder-specific treatments,”
Marie-Claude Potier, a Down’s syndrome specialist at the Brain and Spine Institute in Paris, said the results were a “leap forward,” but that safety and efficacy need to be confirmed especially if some of the subjects are sensitive or allergic to green tea. This idea will do wonders for the homeopathic world and spreading its concepts.
Web MD lists numerous green tea health benefits such as weight loss in the form of 50,000 calories per year when swapping it for soda. Web MD also reported on a Swiss study where it showed that green tea helped increase the blood flow in the brain. Which means green tea can potentially safeguard you from Alzheimer’s and other forms of mental illness.
Earlier on the Inquisitr, we reported on a certain type of health benefits coming from Matcha, a Japanese powdered green tea and it being considered as the newest miracle elixir with its potent antioxidant levels.

The first of two memorial services planned for three-time world heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali went down today at Kentucky's Freedom Hall in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. The boxing icon departed this life last week at the age of 74 after battling Parkinson’s disease for the last three decades.
Ali’s daughter Laila Ali, a retired professional boxer, hugged her daughter Sydney tight during the Jenazah, which is an Islamic prayer service. Her family, including her sister Hana, celebrity friends -- including boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and Rev. Jesse Jackson -- along with an estimated 14,000 fans joined her to say their final goodbyes and celebrate his remarkable life at the site of Ali's last fight in Louisville in 1961. Ali's widow and fourth wife, Lonnie, his second wife, Khalilah Camacho-Ali, and his third wife, Veronica Porche-Ali, were all in attendance as well. His first wife, Sonji Roi, passed away in 2005.
Tickets for the event sold out an hour after tickets were made available to the public.
President Barack Obama will be unable to attend tomorrow's funeral due to his daughter Malia Obama’s graduation on the same day.
Prominent US Muslim scholar Imam Zaid Shakir led the Jenazah prayer service. He started off the prayer service saying, "We welcome all of you here today. We welcome the Muslims, we welcome the members of other faith communities, we welcome the law enforcement community. We welcome our sisters, our elders, our youngsters. All were beloved to Muhammad Ali."

You would think by now, folks would censor their commentary on social media being that once it’s out there, it’s out there for the world to see and there’s no turning back. Our family members, friends, co-workers, even our bosses are all “logged in” online to see everything we post on social media, so nowadays you just have to think twice before you start ranting and raving on a public platform.
Well, one Cleveland fan should have thought twice about his commentary before Game 3 of the NBA Finals yesterday. Steph’s sister Sydel Curry, an Elon University student in Elon, N.C, hopped on Twitter to express her excitement about traveling to Cleveland to watch her brother and the Warriors go head-to-head against LeBron James and the Cavaliers.
One Cavaliers fan named Moe Wahdan decided to issue a threat of sorts to Sydel and the Curry family all while disgustingly calling little 3-year-old Riley Curry out of her name. This human tweeted (and deleted):

It was a somewhat surprising blowout, even though the Cavs were at home, since the Warriors blew out the Cavs the first two games. According to the ratings, Game 3 of the NBA Finals was the third highest rated Game 3 ever on ABC.
Game 4 will tip off tomorrow (June 10th) at the Q Arena at 9pm EST on ABC.

Wrongfully Convicted Brian Banks On Standford Student Brock Turner’s Rape Sentence Double Standard – “It's a Case Of Privilege”
Brian Banks was wrongfully convicted of rape and was sentenced to five years in jail. Now, he’s speaking out about the double standard over former Stanford University student and swimmer Brock Turner’s lenient sentence. Find out all he said inside….
Brian Banks now works in the NFL’s Los Angeles offices. But, he had plans on playing in the NFL as a young football star in high school. His dreams were robbed from him when he was convicted of raping a girl at the age of 16 in 2002 and was tried as an adult. A judge handed down a six-year sentence for something he ultimately didn’t do. After Brian was released, the young lady who accused him of rape recanted her story and he was able to clear his name as an innocent man.
Now, Brian, who is black, is speaking out about the Brock Turner case, a case he has been following closely after what happened to him.
Brock, a then Stanford University student and swimmer, who is white, was sentenced this past March to six months in county jail for three felony charges related to his sexual assault of an unconscious woman in 2015: Assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated/unconscious person, penetration of an intoxicated person and penetration of an unconscious person.
And get this, Brock’s sentence can be reduced to three months if he exhibits good behavior while behind bars.
Well, this struck a cord with Brian because he was in the exact same situation as Brock 13 years ago, but their outcomes are totally different. Brian didn’t have a criminal record and neither did Brock, but their sentences are disgustingly different. Brian believes Brock got off easy because he’s privileged, not just by race, but by his economical lifestyle and upbringing.
"I would say it's a case of privilege," Brian told the NY Daily News. "It seems like the judge based his decision on lifestyle. He's lived such a good life and has never experienced anything serious in his life that would prepare him for prison. He was sheltered so much he wouldn't be able to survive prison. What about the kid who has nothing, he struggles to eat, struggles to get a fair education? What about the kid who has no choice who he is born to and has drug-addicted parents or a non-parent household? Where is the consideration for them when they commit a crime?"
Brian is confused how he was sentenced to six years and Brock got a measly six months. In the same state.
"You know a man is guilty, so why aren't we unleashing half of the punishment that was unleashed on Brian Banks when he was innocent and there was no evidence?" Brian said. "They gave me six years. They gave him six months."
He continued saying he empathizes with the rape victim and knows what she’s going through.
"I wasn't physically raped, but I was raped in a sense of my freedom," he said. "I was kidnapped, taken against my will, placed in a box for five years and two months. I was denied all human rights. When I screamed and pleaded and begged, it fell on deaf ears. It's a different form of being assaulted and taken advantage of. I know what she is going through."
Powerful statement.
Brock's father, Dan Turner, put out a letter that only infuriated the masses further. He basically cried about his son being unfairly punished for "20 minutes of action." He said in part:
As it stands now, Brock’s life has been deeply altered forever by the events of Jan. 17th and 18th. He will never be his happy-go-lucky self with that easygoing personality and welcoming smile. His every waking minute is consumed with worry, anxiety, fear and depression,” Dan Turner wrote. “His life will never be the one that he dreamed about and worked so hard to achieve. That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20-plus years of life."
Bruh. (He later claimed his words were misinterpreted.)
By the way, the judge in Brock's case, Judge Aaron Perksy, is also a Standford alum.
So, why was a black man robbed of his dreams (when he didn't even commit a crime), but a white man who was CAUGHT in the act gets off with the equivalent of a slap on the wrist? Speak on it!

Nerves can totally take over your body resulting in an embarrassing situation. And 12-year-old “So You Think You Can Dance” contestant Tahani Anderson learned all about it.
During last night’s episode of “SYTYCD,” Tahani hit the stage to audition where she served up a high-energy performance to Beyonce’s “Countdown” track. After her performance, judges gave her standing ovation for her performance. She ran up to the judging table to hug each one, but when she got to Paula, she couldn’t contain herself.
The young dancer vomited all over Paula as she hugged her. But, Paula didn’t sweat it. She jokingly said, “I’ve never had anyone vomit on me like that.” Ha! In Tahani’s defense, she said Paula hugged tightly “and all the happiness came out on her jacket.”

Chris Brown and Kevin McCall are back for round 3 of their ongoing social media feud. You’ll recall, the two exchanged words back in March and May of this year. And now it’s spilling over into the summer.
Kevin has been vocal about his dislike of Breezy since the “Loyal” crooner won’t let him out of his contract. Kevin is signed to Breezy’s record label and he wants out.
