Why Lindsay Lohan Won't Forget Meeting This 9-Year-Old Syrian Refugee in Turkey

Lindsay Lohan has urged the world to put more focus on the refugee situation in the Middle East.

The 30-year-old actress posted on her Instagram page on Sunday, showing a picture of the country's flags blowing in the wind in Bosphorus.

It was a part of a visited that involved her visiting a local hospital as well as one family's home.

"Let us start paying some attention," she posted on the social media platform, adding: "'Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love' - Mother Teresa. #Start #helping the #refugees suffering in #Syria. As promised.#istanbul 🙏 stop #massacreinaleppo."

The following day, Lindsay added snaps of herself bonding with a single-parent unit that are struggling to make ends meet. Her captions spoke of her concern for how the world continued to let these people go without help.

The father, Mohammad, was injured severely in Aleppo and his wife left him and her three kids after they migrated to Turkey," she wrote. "The lovely girl is Heya (9) and her twin brother is Leys. The Sultanbeyli Municipality is covering their rent and kitchen expenses but the conditions of the house are very bad. The older brother was not in the house with us because although he is 17, he had to work in order to take better care of his family. #theworldisbiggerthan5."

The final hashtag she used was in reference to a phrase the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan often uses which speaks of how five members of the Council can unfairly veto any decision.

It's clear that Lindsay took a particular shine to the little girl in the family though.

She posted: "I can't forget Heya whom I met during my visit to the Hussein family. She couldn't care less about our gifts to her, whose mother has gone. She held me more and more tight when she sat on my lap. I sniffed her hair, took her hands and held her tight.

"I understood at that moment once again that we can do more for each other, that we should do more for each other. And we can start by giving support to #Turkey which did its part in this huge human tragedy called Syria by welcoming 3 million refugees.
