Lady Gaga has been popping up at small bars around the country as part of her "Dive Bar Tour" to promote her fifth studio album, Joanne, and her recent performance in NYC was the most emotional one yet. Long before "Just Dance" came out and rocketed her to worldwide fame, she was just Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - a singer struggling to make it in the Big Apple. One of the first places she performed was the West Village bar Bitter End, which was where she returned on Thursday night to whoop it up with her fans. Dressed in a sheer Bud Light bodysuit and cut-off shorts, Gaga performed six, stripped-down tracks, including "Joanne," "Million Reasons," and "A-YO." "I've been playing here since I was fifteen years old," she told the crowd. "This is where I started - and I truly cannot believe that you guys moved the grand piano for me. That has never been moved off this stage before as long as I've known its existence, so thank you."
It's been an emotional few months for the singer, who recently broke up with fiancé Taylor Kinney, and penned the heartbreaking "Perfect Illusion" about him. Luckily she had the support of father Joe Germanotta and close friend Sonja Durham in the audience, who she both dedicated songs to. After fans began lining the streets outside the bar (including celebrity attendees like Robert DeNiro and Helen Mirren), Gaga headed to the Bitter End's balcony so she could belt out "Angel Down," her tribute to Trayvon Martin. She finished out her set wearing the same pink hat from the Joanne album cover, and confirmed what her Little Monsters already know to be true: Lady Gaga is back, and better than ever.
