3 Reasons Citi Field Is NYC's Best Date Spot

2Photo: Courtesy of MLB. Dating in New York gets a bad reputation, but it's not for lack of incredible date spots. Yet, even wining and dining in the West Village can feel a bit cliché after a while. For those looking for a fresh take on a romantic night out, you may have to get out of your comfort zone. In fact, I'm gonna go ahead and recommend you get out of Manhattan, because Citi Field is where it's at.

Home to the New York Mets, this Queens stadium is one of my favorite places to go in the summer. Below, why Citi Field — and the Mets games that go down there — are New York's best kept secret.

It Has Every Type Of Date In One Place

It doesn't matter if this is your first or fourth date. It doesn't even matter if you're looking to go super casual or something a bit more fancy. You can opt for bleacher spots and cold beer, or splurge for those behind-the-plate, personal-waiter seats. Plus, if you or your date starts to feel antsy after sitting down for a couple hours, you can walk around the stadium. It's big and beautiful. If you time it right, you can plan this walk for when the sun is setting.

Food That Isn't Just Stadium Hot Dogs

If you're a living, breathing New Yorker, you probably have large, magnanimous feelings about Shake Shack. Citi Field has its very own installment of this burger-and-shake favorite — minus the lines you'd find at some of the city's locations. Or, you can hit up Blue Smoke BBQ, Pat LaFrieda's, El Verano Tacqueria, or Catch of the Day. And, if you're feeling nostalgic/patriotic, you can still get the stadium hot dog.

It's Entertaining — Even If You Don't Keep Up With The Mets

New York is home to so many transplants — and Yankees fans — that the Mets are often put on the back burner. But, you can also catch concerts at Citi Field right after some games. Earlier this month, the stadium welcomed Boyz II Men. There's nothing sexier than that.

You can see the full schedule of Mets home games here.
