Coldplay’s “Miracles”: Hear A Snippet Of The ‘Unbroken’ Song

Weeks before its theatrical, December 25 debut, Unbroken already seems like an Oscar contender.

The Universal Studios film is the second directorial effort by the enigmatic Angelina Jolie. Lauded screenwriters Joel and Ethan Coen wrote the script. Like last year’s Best Picture winner Argo , the film is based on a gripping, though still feel-good true story – this time, on an Italian Olympian-turned-prisoner of war, in the hands of Japanese troops. Plus, Coldplay will contribute a song to Unbroken ‘s soundtrack. Naturally, it’s called “Miracles.”

So it’s kind of strange for the first listen of “Miracles” to pop up not in breathless Unbroken coverage, but in a commercial for UK channel Sky Movies Christmas – so, to footage of films like Miracle on 34th Street , Home Alone and Elf . As a result, the song doesn’t seem as rousing as it should be, though surely that will change once the song debuts in full and gets the (likely Unbroken­ -themed) video treatment.
