The agent in question, Harrison Goodsell, is found tortured and killed. Granger tells them that he was a homeless man who suffered from PTSD.

Hetty is sidelined by Granger, but as you know if you watch NCIS: Los Angeles online, she can't help but get involved in some capacity. It's Hetty.

Granger, obviously, was shielding the team from the truth about Goodsell, who went AWOL from the military and wasn't homeless, but feigning homelessness.

He was working a case that way, and a trail of clues leads Deeks and Kensi to a Mexican cartel leader, Pena, who is being extradited to Los Angeles.

The NCIS agents believe that the cartel is hoping to halt the extradition, and soon learns that the prosecutor in the case, Kevin Turner, is missing as well.

He is later found at home, held captive by armed Mexicans. After the team takes them out, Turner is brought in for questioning, but soon released.

Little did they know he was the one tasked with killing Pena, and that his girlfriend and daughter were held as a means of assuring he would finish the job.

Sam and Callen, not a moment too soon, manage to stop Turner, while Kensi and Deeks rescue the hostages ... and Goodsell was Turner's father.

That was the only reason he got involved in a twist no one saw coming, including viewers of this typically strong episode of the CBS NCIS spinoff.
