‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer To Reveal New Villain

The villain is reportedly a cybog-like character.

Rumors suggest that Star Wars fans will be seeing the first teaser trailer for the upcoming seventh installment, The Force Awakens, very soon, and when they do, they’ll reportedly get their first look at the beloved sci-fi series’ newest villain.

According to a report by Latino Review , the minute-long teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was secretly shown to an audience in Europe recently, leading to some insight into what the trailer will contain. The newest villain in the Star Wars franchise is among the persons featured in the teaser, and the character’s design is reportedly reminiscent of several other antagonists previously seen in the Star Wars universe.

“He’s masked (no identity spoilers yet!) and the final design of the mask looks somewhere in between the red-colored Imperial Guards from ‘Return of the Jedi’ and Darth Reven from ‘Knights of the Old Republic.'”

Previous reports have described the villain as a cross between a cyborg and the Inquisitor, the antagonist of the now-airing series Star Wars Rebels. As Movieweb notes, Knights of the Old Republic is not considered Star Wars canon, leading them to assert the new villain will likely have little to do with Darth Reven, other than a superficial resemblance.

As the Inquisitr previously noted, a description of the teaser trailer suggests that it will contain a series of character reveal shots, set to The Force Theme by John Williams, before a female voice implores someone to wake up.

“And then the title card appears — ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ — and we see the Millennium Falcon, firing blasters, coming right at the camera.”

Though there is no official date for the trailer’s release, the Telegraph reports that the preview for the new Star Wars film will be attached to The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies when it premieres next month. Rumors of the release emerged after Star Wars 7 News reported on a tweet, which purportedly quoted The Force Awakens first assistant director Tommy Gormley, intimating that the Star Wars trailer would be attached to Peter Jackson’s upcoming epic.

The account responsible for the tweet has since been taken down. Though possibly a coincidental occurrence, Jackson reportedly visited the set of Star Wars: The Force Awakens during principle filming.
