Stacey Dash: ‘Clueless’ Star Joining Fox News, Considering Run For Political Office

Stacey Dash Taking Post At Fox News, Considers Run For Political Office

Stacey Dash was once a big supporter of President Obama, but the Clueless star has now made an about face and is planning to join the conservative Fox News as an analyst.

Rumors that she would be joining the cable news network have been circulating for a few weeks, and on Wednesday network executives confirmed that Dash was coming on board to offer “cultural analysis and commentary” on daytime and prime-time shows.

“Stacey is an engaging conversationalist whose distinctive viewpoints amongst her Hollywood peers have spawned national debates,” said Bill Shine, the network’s exec VP of programming.

Dash has been on Fox News in the past, appearing on the shows Fox & Friends and Outnumbered.

Dash made waves in 2012 when she tweeted a message in support of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, calling him “the only choice for your future.”

“I tweeted my opinion and when I woke up the next morning, my life had changed,” the 47-year-old actress told Elle. “And since then, anything I say has been newsworthy. I say something and then it’s newsworthy.”

Dash would later go on to express regret for voting for Obama in 2008, saying:

“I didn’t know anything about [Obama] when I voted for him in 2008. My choice to do so was purely because he was black. Naively, I thought he would be the right person for the job but unfortunately it didn’t turn out that way.”

But Dash does not shy away from her criticism, either. She has been known to re-tweet disparaging Twitter comments, often targeting her race and political viewpoints.

“WOW! I used to like you so much. You have proven yourself mentally ill, especially now by joining FAUX News. Pathetic bigot,” read another retweeted personal attack.

In her new post at Fox News, Stacey Dash also said she wants to bring a message of empowerment for women in whatever role they choose in society.

“Feminism is being able to have the choice,” she told Elle on Wednesday. “The choice to be a CEO, to be an executive, to be a journalist, to be a congresswoman, to be a mother, a stay-at-home mother, to be a wife.”

Stacey Dash is working on some other projects as well. She’s reportedly been developing Stacey Dash is Normal, a satirical comedy show about her life as a single mom and Republican in Hollywood. Stacey said she would also consider running for office some day, noting, “I come from nothing. I understand what I’m talking about.”
