If this kid doesn’t have a future in Football, he should definitely try his hand at motivational speaking.
Earlier this week, a news reporter had no idea what she was signing up for when she interviewed Texas teen Apollos Hester after his high school football team came back from a first-quarter deficit to beat the opposing team 42-41. During the post-game interview, she asked Apollos, “It was going a little back and forth, you knew it was going to be a tough dog fight out there, so what were you guys able to do to come back and win this thing?” The enthusiastic teen responded:
“We started real slow, but that’s alright, that’s okay sometimes in life, you’re gonna start slow…”
He then went into an almost 2-minute motivational speech that has helped propel him to Internet celebrity fame with over 3 million views on YouTube.
Here are a few lessons we received from Apollos on how to win in 90 seconds:
1)It takes guts and it takes an attitude! That’s all it takes! That’s all it takes to be successful is an attitude!
2) Always start slow, and always finish fast.
3) When you go out there and battle and fight, you not only doing it for yourself, you do it for others.
4) It’s an awesome feeling when you truly believe that you’re going to be successful! Regardless of the situation, regardless of the scoreboard, you’re going to be successful because you put in all the time and effort, all the hard work and you know that it’s gonna pay off!
5) And if it doesn’t pay off, you continue to give God the glory! If you still lose the game, you continue to get each other’s back! Win or lose, you have to realize, that it is going to be alright. And it’s gonna be okay!
6) You can do anything you put your mind to! Never give up on your dreams, keep smiling! No matter what you’re going through, if you fall down, just get up!
