Fifty Shades of Grey might seem like a dream project for a lot of actresses in Hollywood, but apparently the audition process left a few feeling a bit stressed out.
Although “I Will Never Let You Down” singer Rita Ora doesn’t have a huge role in the upcoming adaptation of E.L. James’ wildly successful erotic novel, this didn’t stop her from getting a little anxious when trying out for the role of Mia Grey. If Fifty Shades of Grey becomes a massive box office sensation, the flick could propel Calvin Harris’ ex into the stratosphere. We’re sure her fingers are crossed.
Ora admitted that adopting an American accent for Fifty Shades of Grey was pretty stressful as well. However, losing her British accent for the coveted role wouldn’t matter if she didn’t nail the audition. Fortunately for her, she impressed producers.
She told Access Hollywood :
“I was a bit kind of stressed out during the audition process. When I got that phone call I was so happy. I couldn’t wait to tell everybody.”
Despite the stress she felt while trying out for Fifty Shades of Grey, Ora seems to understand that opportunities like this don’t come along every day. The Inquisitr previously reported that the singer believes her involvement with the high-profile adaptation has helped sharpen her acting skills.
Rita previously explained:
“[Mia Grey] doesn’t know about his fantasies yet, but she’s extremely involved and loves him and she studies in France, speaks French, and it was a good learning curve for me. I had a brown wig on and I was being the smart girl that came from French school to see her family, so it was just a lot of dedication, it was like going back to school.”
The singer wasn’t the only person who experienced a bit of anxiety while auditioning for Fifty Shades of Grey. Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale reportedly tried out for the lead role in the flick, a process she apparently found “uncomfortable.”
Hale told MTV News:
“It actually was just me [in the audition]. It was a two-page monologue of exactly what you would think it would be. Very uncomfortable, but it was sort of one of those things where you just had to go for it or you’re just gonna look lame — hopefully, I didn’t look lame.”
Director Sam Taylor-Johnson’s high-profile take on E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey should arrive in theaters on February 13, 2015. Are you planning to catch the adaptation on the big screen? Do you believe the movie will become a hit?
